Our Story

Our Philosophy

The philosophy behind Mukase Catering is beautifully reflected in the Adinkra symbol “Ese ne Tekrema,” which is prominently featured in our logo. This symbol, representing the tongue and teeth, embodies the values of friendship and interdependence. Though they may sometimes be in conflict, they must work together harmoniously for the benefit of both and the greater whole.

Meet Our CEO

Florence Retter

“My passion for cooking comes from a belief that great food, prepared ethically and with heart and soul, has the power to nourish both body and spirit.

Growing up with a Fante mother who was a professional caterer instilled in me a love for culinary experimentation. Watching her joyfully create and innovate with recipes, I naturally developed my own passion for cooking, especially for Ghanaian delicacies. Having spent my formative years in both Ghana and Nigeria, I also had the privilege of learning to prepare a wide range of dishes from both countries.

As a young girl, spending countless hours in the kitchen with my mother often felt like a chore, but it turned out to be the pivotal moment that ignited my lifelong love for cooking.
For me, cooking is more than just a skill—it’s a form of therapy. It brings me peace, joy, and a sense of calm. Seeing the delighted reactions of people enjoying my food is one of my greatest satisfactions.

Now, I’m excited to share my passion with the world. Through Mukase Catering’s food truck service, I am bringing delicious, soul-nourishing meals to a wide variety of events—from festivals and pop-up markets to parties and special occasions.”
